Did you know that you can book Elaine Pritchard to give a talk to your group, club or organisation about Vale Rawlings and his life and times in Burton-on-Trent?
If your members have an interest in local history - or just enjoy a good, dramatic, true story - this might be right up their street.

Elaine gave three talks towards the end of 2024: to Burton Civic Society, Derby Area Trades Union Council and the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Labour History group.
She already has three talks in the diary for 2025: Etwall and Burnaston History Society; Burton Friendship Club and Burton Family History Group.
Elaine said: "Vale's story is not just for people interested in politics. I never give the same talk twice and I am happy to adapt it for each audience. I can focus more on Vale's family life and his enduring love for his wife Ellen, or on the fight for votes for women, or on his experiences as a conscientious objector. But always at the heart of the story there remains his support for the 'flycatcher girls', mostly teenagers who worked a 55-hour week in a Burton town centre factory, and how that landed him in jail and made his name famous across the country."

Instead of a speakers' fee or expenses, Elaine asks for a donation for The Vale Rawlings Project CIC, which is in turn continuing to raise money for two local charities YMCA Burton and SARAC.
If your group is more than a 45-minute drive from Burton-on-Trent, Elaine can also give her talk via Zoom for groups who meet virtually.
Elaine added: "I can bring along a presentation on a memory stick if your group has access to a laptop, projector and screen but if you don't I can also bring along images and documents for people to look through at the end of my talk."
