We're excited by new opportunities to share the Vale Rawlings story with people across the Midlands.

Tonight is Elaine Pritchard's first Vale Rawlings talk of 2025 at Etwall and Burnaston Local History Group in Derbyshire. She previously visited the group to talk about Orton and Spooner and is delighted to have been asked back to cover another forgotten slice of local history.

Elaine has also been asked to speak in Derby at one of the weekend talks organised by Derby Museums. Her talk on Vale Rawlings and The Flycatcher Girls is scheduled for Saturday August 30, 2025, at 1pm at the museum and art gallery on the Wardwick. It costs £5 to attend and places must be booked in advance.

Last year, Elaine spoke to the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Labour History Society and afterwards was invited to contribute an article to their newsletter. This has been published in the March 2025 edition and explains more about the Vale Rawlings Project and how and why it raises funds for two Burton charities, YMCA Burton and SARAC.
